Doctor's Appointment #4 - 21w4d

Sorry for the lack of updates!!  The beautiful weather has been very distracting. . . but on a positive side, we have been busy moving IN to our new house.  Which is super exciting. . . I love hanging the pictures and making everything MINE.  The more I do and unpack, the more things I think we need!  So my list of things for the new house has grown considerably.  :-)

Everything went well at our doctor's appointment last week!  The doctor was very pleased with how everything is going.  Everything inside looks wonderful, nothing out of the normal.  Everything will continue as planned. . . YAY!!  I'm SOO happy that we are having an uneventful pregnancy.  Our prayers are being answered. . . but honestly, with so many things going right, it's hard not to worry about "When it's all going to hit the fan."  I am trying really, really hard not to think about it or stress out.  I work hard and then rest hard. . . I would never have taken this road with any of my other pregnancies.  I was always a go-getter. . . nothing is going to hold me back. . . tell me I can't and I will show you I can.  This time around I am trying not to stretch my luck.  After working 3 days / 32 hours, Tuesday is a day of resting.  Feet up, laid back and relaxing. . . for most of the day.  I feel lazy but I'm trying my best to make this a JUNE baby.  :-)

Remember, things can change at anytime, so everything is as of *right now*.  At this time, everything is getting a thumbs up from the doctor.  So our next appointment is the glucose screening {QUADRUPLE YUCK!}.  I got my orange glucose drink to bring home. . . I cringe every time I open the refrigerator and see it!  I have to drink it 30 minutes prior to my appointment and I only have 5 minutes to drink/chug it!  Then if it doesn't make you feel HORRIBLE enough, one hour later I have to have my blood drawn.  I am dreading it!!  I hate this test and I wish I could skip it.  But since Chloe was a big baby and I nearly failed the test with Jacob, it's one of the mandatory tests.

Here are the specs:
  • Weighed in at 135.2 pounds {Total weight gain of +7.2 lbs}  *Gulp!*
  • Blood pressure was good and normal.
  • Baby's heart rate was 150+ beats per minute.
  • Our next appointment is on Thursday, March 15th at 1:15am. Then to be on the safe/proactive side - this will be my last four week appointment.  It's going to be a doctor's appointment every 2-3 weeks as we inch towards the final trimester.

Update

Tuesday, February 14th - I got the opportunity to attend Chloe's Valentine's Party at school.  It's always nice to see her interacting with kids her own age and to see what she's like out in the big world. . . not under mom and dad's wing.

Wednesday, February 15th - All around Girl Scout Day for me!!  Girl Scout Meeting from 3pm - 5pm.  Girl Scout Service Unit Meeting and Nuts/Magazine Training from 7pm - 9pm.

Thursday, February 16th - Doctor's Appointment - Update to come in a different post!

Friday, February 17th - Jerry, Jaxen and I got Jacob dropped off at school and headed to Warsaw to get our taxes done.  And let me just say, 3 kids - a new house - Jerry going to school, added to a pretty nice return from both federal and state!  :-)  We should be able to get a few things for the house and set a bunch aside for when the new baby gets here and I'm not working.  *Knock on Wood* This is the first year I can remember where we don't have something pressing with one of the vehicles. . . new transmission, roll-over accident, needing new car, etc.  Kind of nice to actually get the return and not HAVE to spend it so fast!

Jerry's sister picked up Jacob from school since we were running about 30 minutes later than we expected to.  Once we got home, Jerry was able to climb the tree and get Jasmine down.  Stupid Cat.

The boys and I got to enjoy the lovely weather while watching Daddy climb the tree.  I'm glad I got some pictures of Jaxen that day, because it wasn't until later that night when I realised he turned 14-months old!  Which means only 4 more months until new baby gets here.  *Ah! Freak out moment.*

I know the last two posts are backwards, but it made it easier for me to update it that way.  I could switch them, but I don't want anyone to miss all the updates.  Next update: Doctor's Appointment.

Beautiful Weather

Wow, I have a lot of catching up to do on here!  We have been so busy getting things taken care of and accomplished that I just haven't had the time to sit down and type.  I promise, I am going to try over the next couple of day catch everyone up with my latest happenings -- including my last doctor's appointment!
We have had such lovely weather the last two days!  Jerry and I have been busy getting things fixed up and tweaked up around the house.  Let me fill you in on everything we've done this week!

Saturday, February 18th - Jerry and I both worked.

Sunday, February 19th - Jerry and I both worked.  {22 weeks pregnant!}

Monday, February 20th - Jerry and I both worked.

Tuesday, February 21st - Jerry had to get some sleep and my sister-in-law and Susan had an important meeting at school about one of her kids.  So the boys and I went into Harrisonville around 9:30am and joined Emily and Susan at their "playgroup".  Susan left before playgroup was over, then I took all three to the library for story time at 11:00am.  They had a little craft to do after story time, so Jacob and Emily took their time making their doorknob hangers while we waited for Susan.  The boys had so much fun, I think I'm going to try and make it a weekly trip to Story Time at the Library.
It was after 12pm went I got home with the boys.  I fed them both lunch and set Jaxen down for a nap.  Then Jacob and I relaxed around the house until Chloe got home from school.  I can't remember what we did that evening, but I do remember Jerry got us Chinese for dinner.
Wednesday, February 22nd - **World Thinking Day for Girl Scouts!**  The weather was beautiful!!  Jerry, Jacob and I got outside most of the day.  {Jaxen played outside for a while with us then took a couple hour nap!}  We cleaned up the yard from the dogs getting into the trash or shredding their pillows into stuffing!  While we were out there, we figured out how Zinzi and Bandit were getting out of the yard. . . Jerry was able to fix the fence to keep them in and out of my trash!
BEFORE
After the yard was clean, we headed to the garage.  It was a disaster zone, but when you move within a matter of days it's going to happen!  I'm embarrassed to show the before picture, but I have to in order for you to get all the work that we put into the stupid garage!
BEFORE
Now mind you some of that is now sitting inside my dinning room waiting to be unpacked but now it's in the house and I can't use the excuse that's it's too cold outside to go get it. Most of it is things I just need to go through and get rid of and I will over the next week or two! It's only been inside my house 24 hours and already I'm tired of it all sitting there.
AFTER
After we got the garage half-way decent - it's not finished but it's good for now because we can get two cars inside and get to the tools and refrigerator and deep freezer - we went to Susan & Bob's house to take Emily, Chloe's old Dora bike to use this summer.  Plus we needed to use their air compressor to air up the kids' bike tires.  = )  {Side Note: We had to take the Explorer because of the kids' bikes.  This was the first time that I had gotten back in the Explorer since we laid it on it's side January 2011.  I was a nervous wreck, brought back a lot of scary memories.}  We stayed and chit-chatted for a little bit, while the kids all rode bikes and played outside together.

When we left Susan's house, we swung by Walmart for sandwich cheese, cat food, curtain rod and Mt. Dew.  Since it was getting late when we left Walmart we stopped by Little Caesar's and got a couple of their $5 pizzas to take home for dinner.

Thursday, February 23rd - Once I got Chloe on the bus and Jacob to preschool, I headed to Walmart  When I got home, Jerry and I went out and reburied our septic tank.  It doesn't sound like a big task, but I was beat after moving all that dirt with a shovel!!  Since I pulled into the garage to unload the milk and bread into the refrigerator out there {no room in the refrigerator in the house for 2 more gallons of milk}, we went ahead and cleaned out my car, vacuumed, and washed the windows.  = )  Now they are finger print and dog nose free - for now!
By the time we got the car cleaned out, it was time for me to pick up Jacob from school.  Once we ate lunch, I cleaned up the house and got laundry going.  Then we hung up a lot of my picture frames!  I'm not done yet, but I got a good start to it. . . I'm so procrastinating on getting my dinning room emptied out!
Anyone want to come help me?!?!
But in my head I justified doing what I wanted after I got the garage cleaned up and pretty for Jerry.  Makes sense, right?!  So I spent my afternoon playing around on the computer and hammering nails into my walls!!  Check out *SOME* of my handy work!!

Okay, that's it for tonight!!  You will have to come back in a couple of days to see the update for the week prior . . highlights: My doctor's appointment and income taxes!  = )

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Let's start off on a good note. . . Happy Valentine's Day!!!  Not too much is going on around here this week.  I have something to do every day but I've had weeks where I had tons to do each day!

This afternoon is Chloe's Valentine's Party at school.  I hope I remember to bring my camera and that will be a different post all together.  Yesterday, her and I made goodies bags for her class.  I think they turned out pretty awesome!  :-)

Tomorrow, is Girl Scout Day for me.  And Jerry is going to call around and see if he can get the rest of the things we are missing to get our taxes done.  With the move at the end of December. . . I am certain we received everything, but I can't seem to locate a few important items.  So hopefully, next week we will be able to go get our taxes done. . . weather permitting of course!!  We remember last year when Jerry rolled the Explorer.

Thursday is my doctor's appointment.  I am hoping it doesn't take all day and that we hear nothing but awesome news.  This is kind of the turning point - past halfway - where things can start getting iffy.  I try not to think about it too much because it stresses me out, but then I am trying to really pay attention to see if maybe I can tell when somethings up.  I really don't want to have this baby following in his brother's footsteps with an early/scary arrival!

I have nothing planned on Friday.  Nothing at all. = )  I hope it stays that way.  I missed work last weekend because of sick children and I am sure I'll pay for it next weekend.  = (  {Oh, and heads up.  I doubt I'll be considered for the position, but I signed up for an office job working the same shift I currently work in the Traffic Receiving Office.  A lot of others signed up, but I am just looking for something that will allow me to work as long as possible without so much heavy lifting.  That was you FYI, just in case I mention it in a later post.}

Saturday night after all our party guest left and it was just me and the kids. . . The boys' cough took a turn for the worse.  Jaxen spiked a fever and was cranky and miserable.  Jacob was up all night crying / whining / driving me nuts!  SO after being up with two sick, fever running, horrible coughing little boys until 1:30am - I stayed home to get some sleep myself.  Jerry didn't think I would be very safe drive a forklift on an hours worth of sleep!  Plus with me home I was able to dose them with medicine every 4 - 6 hours while Jerry got some sleep.  Jacob was the first to break his fever and thankfully Chloe never got more than the cough.  Jaxen had me running to the store for more medicine Sunday because Tylenol would not break his 102.0 fever.  Finally, after a bath and Motrin - we were able to start seeing a difference in his fever.  And after a dose of Motrin, he was able to eat and play for about 30 - 60 minutes before crashing back to the moping around then house.

Jaxen slept most of the weekend away and he really needed to.  But every time the Motrin wore off his fever would spike again.  So I stayed home Monday too - since I could get paid my sick pay.  And it wasn't until Monday afternoon that I was able to get rid of the fever completely.  He still gets cranky really fast, so I am keeping him on Tylenol.  But he is eating and playing again for longer periods of time.  I'm sure it will just take time to get him back to his old self.

Well that's it for me.  I have to finish paying the bills - what I originally sat down at the computer to do!  Then it's time to see if I can get the darn cat out of the tree.  = \

Ultrasound - 20w4d

Today was ULTRASOUND day!

My ultrasound went well this afternoon.  The doctor ordered a routine internal ultrasound to check the placenta placement.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.  It was actually better than a yearly exam.  But then again it was only going in to check the placenta - not the baby.  Once the pictures were taken on the placenta, the rest of the ultrasound was done like normal from the outside of the belly.

Face
The baby is sitting really low and only on the right side - just like Jaxen.  The baby was curled up in a ball with hands and feet together near it's face with legs tight together!  And is in the ________ position. . . can you guess?!?!  Just like the other 3, this baby is also in the BREECH position - head up and feet down.  Of course, there is ALWAYS time for the baby to turn, but at this point I have no hopes that it will.  Jacob was the ONLY kid to make his way towards the birth canal and he was a little late doing so!  The ultrasound tech checked and measured everything from the head circumference to the spinal cord.  At one point we even seen up the baby's nose.

Two feet with 10 little toes. . .
Tech had to take the pictures as the baby let her and couldn't use a check list to look for things in a certain order.  Towards the end, the baby really started to move around so we were able to see a few more things.  The ultrasound wasn't far off from what the doctor had guessed for a due date, measuring a little big and one week early.  Baby is currently weighing 1 pound, 1 ounce.  And because only 1 ounce can make a huge difference at this point, we are sticking with the original due date of June 24, 2012.

Baby Daily's Profile
Ultrasound tech stated that right now everything looked good and there are no concerns.  Fluid was good, Baby's heart rate was 145 beats per minute, and there were no physical abnormalities.  I will have more information after seeing and talking with the doctor next week. . .

And now what every one's been waiting for.  After keeping it's legs together for most of the ultrasound and not wanting to show the "goods", we were finally able to get a peak at Baby #4's gender.

It's another BOY for the Daily clan!
Now, I'm not going to lie.  Disappointed? - Yes.  Upset? - A little.  I REALLY wanted another girl and had my heart set on one.  I wasn't expecting it to be another boy.  But as I have been reminded by all the great people in my life {that knows about this pregnancy.  hehe} that I am a lucky momma.  He is a blessing, he is special, and he is loved.  And most importantly - HE and I are healthy!  So far, we have had no bumps in the road and it doesn't appear that there is going to be any.  That alone is AMAZING.

We haven't told the kids that they are getting a brother.  It's going to be the hardest on Chloe. . . and I am still sorting through my own emotions and disappointment.  I want to be prepared to handle her disappointment and have my head on straight when we tell her.  Plus tomorrow night is her Birthday Sleepover and Saturday is her Family Birthday Party. . . I am not going to let anything upset her this weekend.

After the ultrasound, Jerry and I stopped by Target to look for a Monster High Doll that Chloe wants and we CANNOT find it anywhere and to look at the cribs.  Sad to say after 3 kids, mine is falling apart.  = (  While we were there, Jerry and I checked the clearance racks and bought our first thing for the newest little man. . .

3-pk Monster Inc. Newborn Onesies!!
See he's spoiled already!

Productive Week

I apologize now, this is going to be a short post.  It's 9:30pm and I have got to work tomorrow morning, so I am needing to head to bed.  But as a quick unwinder, I'm going to get a post in.

This week was jammed packed. . . I didnt' even get the laundry done!  We did however get a ton of other things done:
  • Got my scout room unpacked
  • Burned all the cardboard boxes and random crap
  • Kid's / Jerry's Dentist Appointment
  • Got propane delivered
  • Put up the dog's fence - I love it! They hate it!  :-)
  • Paid our 1st house payment
  • Grocery / Birthday Party Shopped
  • Got to the bank to get the car titled correctly
  • Got a new dining room table - re-arranged the dining room & sun room to fit everything in.
  • Plus, Jerry fixed a lot of little things on my Honey-Do List like tightening the knobs on the bathroom drawers, fixed our thermostat in the master bedroom, etc.  {I had him all over the place fixing little things that required tools I didn't know were to find!}
All-in-all it was a good week.  Dog fence is up and the dogs are outside all day!  I love it.  It took Jerry and I almost 6 hours to get the whole thing up and it's still needing a little work, but it's up!  Which is a HUGE accomplishment.  Because since finishing, it's been pouring down rain NON-STOP!  And is suppose to continue raining through Monday.  Thank goodness it's not snow!

I am currently in the process of uploading 60+ pictures to the Picasa Web Album.  So I will try and get a picture post in this weekend.  But please forgive me if I don't get to it. . . NEXT week is a BIG, EXCITING, BUSY week for me.  Chloe's birthday is on Tuesday {have to make cupcakes for her class}, Girl Scout Meeting on Wednesday, Gender Ultrasound on Thursday, Jacob's Valentine's Party at school and Chloe's Birthday Sleepover on Friday, followed by the family birthday party on Saturday!!  Before having to work Sunday and Monday. . . When is my day off!?!?!?  Ah!!

1st Visit to the Dentist

Chloe, Jacob and Jaxen all had their first visit to the Dentist this afternoon!  I know, most of you are thinking I should have taken Chloe years ago, but really my own insecurities have held me back.  I hate the dentist and when i go, I go alone so that my fears don't rub onto the kids.  However, it was time.  Chloe and Jacob are both old enough and what better time to start them down the right path than now.

Chloe was first.  She was scared and nervous but she didn't let that stop her.  She walked right in, sat down and asked the hygienist to go slow and nice and to please tell her everything she was going to do first.  =)  I couldn't help but think, "That's my girl!"  She laid it all on the line and the lady was really nice and did everything Chloe asked her to do.  Chloe even asked some pretty good questions about all the tools and gadgets.  The hygienist was very impressed with her.

Chloe started out by getting her very first set of dental xrays taken.  The film hurt her mouth but she was big and brave enough to hold it long enough to get a decent picture.  She loved looking at the xrays!  She was even brave enough to sit through the entire cleaning of her teeth and the fluoride rinse (yuck!).  She did amazing with all the sounds and gadgets that they were putting in her mouth.

Once the dentist came in to check everything out, we got to discuss Chloe's Class 3 - Under bite.

UNDER BITE - This occurs when the lower teeth protrude past the front teeth. It’s usually caused by undergrowth of the upper jaw, overgrowth of the lower jaw, or both. It can also be caused by missing upper teeth. This can prevent the normal function of front teeth or molars, which can lead to tooth wear. It can also cause painful jaw and joint problems.

This is something that she's had for as long as I can remember and it doesn't bother her.  However, I learned today that if we don't fix it now while the baby teeth are falling out and the new teeth are coming in, as an adult it would require extensive surgery to re-align her jaw and then braces to bring the teeth into the correct placement.  *Gulp!*  Our dentist has seen a number of kids with this problem, including one of his own.  And he has an easy fix for it.  Over the next 6-months, Chloe will loose both of the top front teeth.  They are both currently loose.  Hopefully, when the adult teeth come in, they will automatically be the teeth out in front.  However, if they look like they are going to sit behind the bottom row of teeth, Chloe will get crowns glued on to the front set of teeth and over a 2-week period, during normal eating and talking, her teeth will move that direction and her bite will align naturally.  After 2-weeks, the crowns get removed and Chloe goes on like normal.  Of course, the dentist did say that it could take a couple tries with the crowns before the "correct" alignment is achieved and the crowns are a little bigger than normal teeth - so she might look a little funny or off, but they have seen very good results and it's a whole lot cheaper and less invasive than surgery.  And the dentist did say that Chloe could force the teeth forward with her tongue or fingers while they are growing in if she messed with pushing them forward.  So we will see, everything will take course once we see how her adult teeth are coming in!

Other thing that was surprising because she's still a little young, Chloe has her first set of adult molars coming in.  In fact, most of them are a good chunk of the way in.  These molars will need to be capped once they are in all the way to protect them from decay.

Next up was Jacob!  I wasn't so sure about him sitting still through the whole thing, but he did better than I expected.  He was really leery about the tools and gadget that they wanted to stick in his mouth, but they put him in charge of the air sucker and he was in heaven.  While they brushed and cleaned his teeth, Jacob got to hold the air tube sucking out the yuck.  It was so funny to watch him in action.  He even tried to suck up the hygienist's hand while she was cleaning his teeth.

Jacob didn't get xrays done because he was so antsy, they are going to try next time since he will know what he's there for.  He did however get the fluoride rinse, but because they were worried about him swallowing it, it was a very diluted rinse.  He surprised us all and did great - I told him if he swallowed it I would know because his belly would turn purple!

The dentist checked in Jacob's mouth and said he had a great set of teeth, all his baby teeth are nicely spaced for his adult teeth to come in perfectly.  In fact, his teeth were ideal.  He isn't going to have any of the problems that Chloe might have.  Which is nice to know that we might only have to pay an arm and a leg for one child!  Just Kidding.

Overall, older two did great.  They both got awesome spinning tooth brushes - I always got the old cheap kind!  Chloe's is Cinderella and Jacob has a Red Power Ranger.  Jaxen also got his teeth looked at, but at this point it's more just to have interaction with the dentist and office staff.  His teeth are looking nice and he will get his first "attempt" at cleaning them around 18-24 months, once he has molars.

Jerry got his stitched taken out.  He's all finished with the dentist until he goes back with the kids in 6-months!  I've already got the appointment scheduled so that he can't back out on me!!  Of course, the dentist did say that if he had any issues before then to just give them a call and they will get him seen asap.  Outside anything crazy, Wednesday, August 6th everyone goes back for another cleaning just before school starts.

Once we got home, Jerry got some of the dog fence posts put up.  After fighting over where to put the dogs, I gave up.  The fence isn't where I would like it, but it will do. . . I just want them out of my house.  Chloe and I also took full advantage of the nice weather and took a ton of boxes and trash to the burn pit and set her ablaze!  It was beautiful outside today - a year ago we had blizzard like conditions and 10.5 inches of snow on the ground!

So we went from this in 2011:

To this in 2012:

And last but not least.  Here are the pictures of the curtains I made the kids, just as I promised.
